5 Seconds of Summer mark major shift with new album ‘Everyone’s A Star!’
5 Seconds of Summer unveil their upbeat sixth album Everyone’s A Star! as the band embraces a creative transformation

5 Seconds of Summer have officially returned with their sixth studio album, Everyone’s A Star!, a project the band describes as their most vibrant and self-assured body of work to date. The release marks more than ten years since the Australian group debuted with their chart-topping self-titled album in 2014, which launched them into global success and cemented their record as the first Australian act to open atop the Billboard 200 with their first three studio albums.
The new album, out Nov. 14 through Republic Records, was recorded between Los Angeles and Nashville and leans into an upbeat, energetic sound. In a statement shared with Billboard, Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin said the project was created from “a genuine place,” adding that they did not chase trends but instead focused on what felt creatively exciting. The band emphasized that the album represents “the most ‘us’ we’ve ever sounded.”
A wide slate of collaborators contributed to the record, including producer Jason Evigan, known for work with Maroon 5 and Benson Boone; and hitmakers Julian Bunetta and John Ryan, whose credits include Sabrina Carpenter and Teddy Swims. Director Frank Borin also returned to work with the band, directing the music video for the new single “Telephone Busy,” which debuted alongside the album.
Speaking with Billboard, Hemmings described Everyone’s A Star! as a “180-degree flip” from their 2022 self-titled album, which leaned into introspective and atmospheric moods. He added that the band embraced experimentation in the studio, pursuing any idea that felt fresh or unusual.
The album release arrives ahead of the group’s massive Everyone’s A Star! Tour, which begins in March 2026 in the U.K. before moving across Europe and then North America. The U.S. leg includes two major shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden on June 13 and 14.
5SOS continue to maintain their status as one of Australia’s most successful musical exports, with more than 18 million albums sold, over 10 billion streams and six Billboard 200 top-10 entries, including their three No. 1s.
