RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court has rejected the interim bail of Hassan Nawaz Khokhar, accused in the attack on former Pakistan Bar Council Chairman Hasan Raza Pasha's chamber behind the high court, and took him into custody.

Police will seek his physical remand today (Friday). Hassan Nawaz, a prominent businessman, said his lawyer Wajeehul Hasan Pasha accepted a heavy fee but failed to represent him properly, keeping him uninformed about court summons, which led to his case being dismissed.

"When I demanded a refund of my fee, he began using delaying tactics. I also filed a complaint with the Islamabad Bar Council, which remains pending," he said. "Ruining a client's case after receiving payment is professional dishonesty and against legal ethics." He further expressed concerns that the Lawyers' Protection Bill is leading to more instances of "lawyer misconduct," causing difficulties for clients seeking justice.
