Coach set ablaze after man killed in Korangi road accident

Nephew of deceased also injured as driver flees after accident

A man was killed and his nephew sustained injuries when a speeding passenger coach hit them near Vita Chowrangi in the Korangi Industrial Area of Karachi, prompting enraged bystanders to set the vehicle on fire. The driver of the coach fled the scene after the accident.

Rescue officials said both victims were the employees of a law enforcement agency. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where the uncle succumbed to his injuries.

According to Chhipa Foundation spokesperson Shahid Chaudhry, the deceased was identified as 40-year-old Manzoor, while his injured nephew was identified as Basharat.

Chaudhry said the body and the injured were shifted to Jinnah Hospital. “Manzoor had recently come to Karachi on leave. The accident took place when they were crossing the road,” the spokesperson added.

Police and fire brigade teams reached the site soon after the incident. The flames were later extinguished, but the coach had completely gutted.

Korangi Industrial Area SHO Muhammad Ali Niazi said the accident involved a Marwat Coach. “The driver escaped after the accident, and police are conducting raids to apprehend him,” he said. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
