Pakistan, Turkiye to deepen ties

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with President of Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the Victory Day Parade held on Saturday and discussed matters of mutual interest.

Chief of the Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was also present in the meeting.

The two leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkiye and reaffirmed their resolve to further deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The prime minister conveyed warm felicitations to President Erdogan and the brotherly people of Türkiye on the occasion of Republic Day, and appreciated the enthusiastic celebrations of Pakistan-Türkiye Friendship Week which reflected the strength of the deep-rooted and enduring ties between the two nations.

The prime minister underscored Pakistan's commitment to transforming its longstanding fraternal ties with Türkiye into an expanded partnership encompassing political, defence, economic, trade, investment and people-to-people linkages. In this regard, it was decided that a Ministerial delegation of Turkiye will visit Pakistan soon.

Both leaders agreed to continue close coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern, and reaffirmed their shared desire to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the wider Muslim world.
