Over 12,000 teacher interns to be hired
Education Dept ends regular recruitment system, moves to employ daily wagers

The Punjnab School Education Department has approved the hiring of an additional 12,500 school teacher interns on a lump-sum daily wage basis after the regular recruitment system was scrapped. Their appointment period will be from December 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026 — ending before the summer vacation.
They will receive salaries for six months only. The age limit for applicants is between 21 and 45 years. The 12,500 interns already working under the same system will continue until May 31, 2026.
The monthly stipends will be Rs45,000 for higher secondary, high, and middle school teachers, and Rs38,000 for primary school teachers.
Educational qualifications include FA/FSc for primary, graduation for middle, and master's degrees for high and higher secondary teachers in relevant subjects.
Online applications will be accepted from November 10 to 20, 2025. The merit list will be prepared on November 25 at 10am, followed by a pre-screening test on November 26, and interviews on November 27.
The final merit list will be issued between November 28 and 29 by 5pm, while appointment orders will be distributed on November 30. Work will begin on December 1.
No TA/DA will be provided. The contract will continue until May 31, 2026, based on merit and performance. Any absence will result in a salary deduction, with only Sundays and gazetted holidays allowed.
Following this, doctors will also be hired on a daily wage in all government hospitals. Approval for these recruitments has been granted, and appointments will begin in December.
