Stranger Things star David Harbour opened up to Entertainment Tonight about his bond with co-star Millie Bobby Brown and the emotional end of the hit Netflix series, speaking as the show’s cast faces renewed public attention amid recent harassment accusations within the fandom.
Speaking at a recent event celebrating the show, Harbour reflected on the cast’s journey over the past decade and his pride in seeing the younger actors grow up on set.
When asked about his relationship with Brown, Harbour said, “Yeah, I mean, you know, I adore her and I’ve been proud to watch all of them grow up and become such great artists.”
He added that the show’s long run allowed them to form unusually deep connections: “We’re so nomadic [in this business] that here we get to hunker down with people for 10 years and they grow up in front of you, and you get to watch them go through all kinds of stuff. It’s just been an incredible experience.”
Harbour described Stranger Things as “the role of a lifetime,” noting how rare it is to work so closely with the same people for so long. “This particular family and this particular project has been so special and we’ve gotten to know each other so deeply,” he said.
While feeling “complicated” about the series ending, Harbour expressed gratitude for the experience: “I’m not happy that it’s ending. I feel complicated about that. But I’m just happy to have had it as an experience. It’s really extraordinary.”
The actor also shared a lighter moment, admitting he’s taken several souvenirs from set over the years, “many, many things,” including coffee cups, a sword from season 4, and “an interesting object” from the upcoming final season.
Harbour’s comments capture the mix of nostalgia, affection, and pride that has come to define the Stranger Things cast’s decade-long journey.
