Miss Universe Thailand executive Nawat Itsaragrisil issued an apology after the controversy where he confronted Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch over her absence in a sponsored shoot, which led to her and other delegates walking out from the event in protest.

The incident occurred ahead of a scheduled sashing ceremony at the delegates’ hotel in Bangkok and was broadcast live on the Miss Universe Thailand Facebook page. Some of the delegates could be seen leaving the conference hall in solidarity with Bosch while Itsaragrisil was speaking.

Hours after the incident, Itsaragrisil went live on his TikTok page and clarified that several candidates allegedly refused to film videos for the pageant's sponsors.

He also claimed that he has been facing “daily problems” regarding the competition due to the absence of Miss Universe Organization (MUO) officials in the country.

Despite these problems, Itsaragrisil emphasised that he intends to meet the MUO executives to discuss the recent incident and has also apologized to the delegates who remained in the conference hall during the ceremony.

“I always try to take care of everyone, to give a higher standard, five star service. I prepare everything for everybody, every country—that I wish to make a history of Miss Universe with the organization. This is my dream, but I know sometimes many conditions happen,” he said.

“If anything happened today; you are not happy; some delegate feeling not comfortable, I do apologize, and also [to] the fans around the world too. But please understand our side too,” he added.

Itsaragrisil also assured that he will “take good care” of Bosch and resolve the issue with her.

Meanwhile, Miss Universe Mexico released a statement condemning the incident .

“No woman, under any circumstance, deserves to be insulted or humiliated,” it said. “Today and always, Mexico is with you, Fatima. Your strength, your class and your voice represent the best of our nation.”

MUO also issued a statement and the President Raul Rocha directly addressing the incident.

Rocha began by expressing his support and solidarity for this year's contestants and went on to criticise Itsaragrisil's actions toward Bosch, describing them as "public aggression".

"I will not allow the values of respect and dignity toward women to be violated," Rocha exclaimed vowing to stand behind the other candidates as well. "I will not allow any of them to be attacked or humiliated.", he said.

Rocha confirmed that Itsaragrisil's participation in the upcoming Miss Universe 2025 events has been restricted and that the limitations could result in his entire access being revoked despite his position as MUO's Executive Director.

Amid the drama, the new Miss Universe is set to be crowned on November 21 in Bangkok, Thailand.
