Old remarks made by David Harbour about protecting Millie Bobby Brown have resurfaced following new allegations that the Stranger Things actress filed a formal bullying and harassment complaint against him before filming began on the show’s final season.
According to RadarOnline, the 21-year-old star lodged a complaint that included “pages and pages of accusations” about Harbour’s behaviour on set. While the claims reportedly do not involve sexual misconduct, they have caused major concern behind the scenes, prompting Netflix to conduct a months-long internal investigation. The company has not commented publicly on the matter, and both actors have remained silent.
The re-emergence of Harbour’s own words from a 2017 People interview has added a complicated layer to the situation. At the time, he described himself as a protector to Brown, then just 13, who was facing intense media pressure and online abuse. “I think she’s in the crosshairs of something extremely dangerous that nobody seems to be paying attention to,” he said. “I know that I try to protect her as much as I can.”
The comments came shortly after Brown deleted her Twitter account due to a wave of online trolling and fake memes. She later launched a positivity campaign called Millie Stops Hate, which encouraged kindness and awareness around bullying. Harbour’s concern was widely praised at the time, with many fans applauding his fatherly support for the young actress.
Now, however, those same comments have taken on a far darker tone. Sources claim Brown had a personal representative present during filming of season five, fuelling speculation about ongoing tensions on set. The situation has grown even more intense given Harbour’s current public scrutiny, following his estranged wife Lily Allen’s new album, which reportedly alludes to infidelity and marital breakdown.
Fans online have reacted with shock to the allegations, with many struggling to reconcile Harbour’s earlier protective image with the recent accusations. As Stranger Things prepares for its final chapter, the contrast between Harbour’s public persona and the alleged private behaviour has cast a long shadow over the show’s legacy.
