The Sindh minister for Universities and Boards has taken notice of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi’s decision to withhold total marks and grades in the recently announced Secondary School Certificate Part-I results for 2025, directing the board to submit a detailed explanation within three days.

In a letter sent to the chairman of the Matric Board, Minister Ismail Rahu said that soon after the SSC Part-I results were announced on October 23, his office received numerous complaints from parents and students objecting to the Board’s method of result publication.

According to the letter, candidates were unable to view their complete results, including subject-wise marks and grades. Instead, the board only displayed the number of papers each student had passed — against the normal procedure of announcing the subject-wise marks details.

The minister noted that this non-disclosure of marks had triggered 'serious concerns' among students and their parents that has led to allegations of lack of transparency and 'possible mala fide intent' on the part of the board.

He further expressed concern that the board's decision of not displaying subject-wise marks with the results has left the students and parents with uncertainty about college admissions.

“In view of the foregoing, there are serious concerns over the newly-adopted practice of announcing results by the board,” the letter stated. The minister directed the board to obtain detailed explanations from the Controller of Examinations and the IT In-charge within three days, to clarify the rationale behind deviating from the standard result process.

It was earlier reported that over 175,000 students faced difficulties after the board failed to upload complete results on its website or include them in the official gazette. The inquiry now seeks to determine the reasons behind the change in procedure and whether the move was an administrative lapse or a deliberate decision.
