KARACHI:

Karachi police, in collaboration with a federal intelligence agency, have arrested four terrorists involved in the targeted killing of senior journalist and TV anchor Imtiaz Ali Mir, who was shot near Kala Board, Malir last month. Mir, who sustained a bullet wound to the face, later succumbed to his injuries, while his brother was also wounded in the attack.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, accompanied by IG Sindh and Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho, told a press conference at the Karachi Police Office that the suspects belong to the banned group Lashkar-e-Sarallah, which has links to an international terror network.

The arrested men were identified as Syed Ijlal Zaidi, Shahab, Ahsan Abbas, and Faraz Ahmed. Police recovered four 9mm pistols, ammunition, and two motorbikes used in the attack.

Officials said the suspects were planning further terrorist activities and had been receiving foreign funding and instructions. Investigations and raids to arrest their remaining accomplices are ongoing.
