Polling scheme issued for Bar polls

RAWALPINDI:

District and Sessions Judge Rawalpindi Abid Rizwan Abid has issued the polling scheme for the Punjab Bar Council elections on eight seats from the Rawalpindi Division.

Six polling stations and 20 polling booths have been set up for the polls scheduled on Saturday, November 1, from 9am to 5pm.

The polling booths have been established in the courts of Additional District and Sessions Judges and Civil Judges, who will also serve as presiding officers.

Each booth has been allocated 500 votes. Due to polling day, courts will remain closed, though duty judges will be present.

Fourteen polling booths have been established in the Judicial Complex, Rawalpindi, two in Gujar Khan Kacheri courtrooms, and one each in Kahuta, Kallar Syedan, Murree, and Taxila tehsil courts.

A total of 34 candidates are contesting for eight seats - 24 from Rawalpindi district for five seats, three from Attock for one seat, four from Chakwal for one seat, and three from Jhelum for one seat.

Across the division, there are 12,000 registered lawyer-voters, each eligible to cast eight votes. Entry of the general public into the Judicial Complex has been restricted on polling day.

Counting will begin immediately after polling ends, and each presiding officer will announce the booth's results on the spot.
