Singer Sombr has responded to criticism from a TikTok user who posted a negative review of his recent concert, defending his performance and emphasizing that fans of all ages are welcome at his shows.

The TikTok creator, aged 25, shared her disappointment after attending Sombr’s October 13 concert at The Anthem in Washington, D.C. She told her followers that she “hated” the experience, describing one segment of the show — referred to as the “Sombr Dating Show” — as “vulgar.” The reviewer also noted that the audience seemed unusually young, suggesting that anyone over 16 might feel out of place at his performances.

In her video, she expressed surprise at the number of younger fans and commented on the singer’s stage presence, calling his behavior “cringe.” Some TikTok users defended Sombr in the comments, prompting the original poster to double down, jokingly referring to the performer as “slender man” and “the weird dancing dude.”

In a video response posted shortly after, Sombr addressed the viral critique, saying he had learned about the controversy only recently. “There’s a TikTok drama going around because a 25-year-old attended my concert and was basically complaining that there were too many tweens there,” he said. Sombr added that the backlash had led to a “massive body shaming hate train” against him online.

“I totally respect people having opinions,” the 20-year-old artist said, “but if you’re 25 and come to my concert not expecting younger fans, that’s a skill issue.” He concluded by urging positivity among fans, adding, “Every age, sex, sexuality, gender, race — everyone is welcome in my concert. Live a little, enjoy life.”

Sombr released his debut album I Barely Know Her in August and is set to perform as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live next month alongside host Nikki Glaser.
