Zack Snyder has delighted fans by sharing a never-before-seen image of Henry Cavill’s Superman from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, reigniting excitement among DC fans and #RestoreTheSnyderVerse supporters.
The photo, captioned “Henry Cavill is Superman,” marks Snyder’s third week on Instagram and quickly stirred speculation about his potential return to the DC universe.
While Snyder has moved on from the DCEU, the director remains one of its most beloved creators. His latest post comes as he prepares for his long-awaited passion project The Last Photograph, a film he has been developing for over 20 years. The movie will follow an ex-DEA operative who teams up with a war photographer to rescue his missing relatives in South America, blending thriller elements with emotional introspection.
In an interview, Snyder described The Last Photograph as “a meditation on life and death,” reflecting deeply personal themes. Originally set in Afghanistan with Christian Bale and Sean Penn attached, the project has evolved significantly since its inception.
Despite DC Studios’ reboot under James Gunn and Peter Safran, Snyder remains open to returning if the characters are treated with “reverence and mythology.” Gunn later confirmed that Snyder has been supportive of the DCU relaunch, maintaining a friendly relationship between the two filmmakers.
Fans continue to hope that Snyder might revisit the world of Superman in a future Elseworlds project. Until then, the new Cavill photo serves as a nostalgic reminder of the filmmaker’s signature vision and his lasting influence on DC’s cinematic legacy.
