The controversy surrounding Twitch streamer Hasan Piker has intensified after viral clips appeared to show him allegedly using a shock collar on his dog, Kaya.

The debate took a new turn when his dog sitter, Caroline Kwan, came forward to defend him, claiming the collar in question is not a shock device.

Kwan addressed the growing accusations in a video that circulated online on October 15, saying, “It’s not a shock collar; I’ve seen that collar.”

She stated that she recognised the collar from prior experience with the dog and confirmed it was a vibration collar with the prongs removed. Her comments echoed Piker’s own explanation that Kaya’s yelp heard in the livestream resulted from accidentally hitting a bedframe, not from a shock or punishment.

Despite her defence, reactions on social media have been divided. Many users questioned her credibility, while others criticised the backlash against Piker.

Piker, a prominent left-leaning Twitch streamer and political commentator, has not issued further statements since the video resurfaced.
