RAWALPINDI:

Police have registered a case against TLP chief Hafiz Saad Hussain Rizvi, along with several local leaders and workers, for blocking highways, firing on police and inciting violence in violation of government restrictions.

The Rawat police station filed the FIR under terrorism, attempted murder, robbery, criminal conspiracy and incitement to public disorder after violent clashes erupted during a TLP protest on Chak Beli Road near Jattha Hathial.

The case, registered on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Najeebullah, names 21 TLP leaders and workers, including Qari Bilal, while 35 others remain unidentified.

According to the FIR, the police received information that a group of protesters had blocked the road, set tyres ablaze and staged a demonstration despite a province-wide ban on rallies under Section 144.
