A comparative analysis of crime data for 2024 and 2025 has revealed a drop in criminal activity across the city.
The police data revealed that 32 major drug networks were dismantled in 2025, resulting in the recovery of over 766 kilogrammes of narcotics - marking a 65% improvement as compared to the previous year.
The crackdown targeted large-scale suppliers involved in drug distribution among youth.
In the fight against organised crime, police claimed to have arrested members of 106 criminal gangs and recovered stolen property worth Rs151.9 million in 2025.
The previous year saw 97 gangs busted and Rs131 million recovered. Officials link this progress to the "Smart Policing and Hotspot Mapping" model, which improved field surveillance and restricted criminal movement.
The data also shows a province-leading decline in major crimes. Murder cases fell from 98 in 2024 to 78 in 2025, a 20% reduction. Blind murders decreased by 67% due to forensic and IT-based investigations.
Cases of rape with murder dropped from two to one, while incidents of dacoity fell from 35 to 10. Robbery cases declined from 1,157 to 585, and vehicle thefts dropped from 1,204 to 944.
