Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s long-running divorce settlement has taken another complicated turn as new court documents reveal details about their dispute over the Château Miraval winery in France. Though the couple finalised their divorce in December 2024, their legal battle over the property continues to cast a shadow on their settlement.
In filings made on 6 October, Angelina Jolie stated that she and her children have not returned to the Miraval estate since their separation. The Oscar-winning actress revealed that she left Brad Pitt full control and residency of their homes in Los Angeles and France without compensation in hopes of easing tensions after what she described as a traumatic period. She also said she made efforts to stay close to Pitt by purchasing a new home near his residence to ensure he remained part of their children’s lives.
The Château Miraval dispute stems from Jolie’s 2021 sale of her stake in the winery to Tenute del Mondo, a company under the Stoli Group. Pitt had filed a lawsuit in 2022, claiming Jolie made the sale without his consent, allegedly violating their agreement that neither would sell their shares without approval from the other. Jolie responded by accusing Pitt of attempting to silence her through a non-disclosure agreement that she refused to sign.
In her new filing, Jolie described Miraval as one of the couple’s earliest and most meaningful investments, recalling their wedding there and moments of family life. She wrote that the property holds painful memories, particularly due to events surrounding the divorce. A source close to Pitt has dismissed Jolie’s statements as an excuse for failing to produce evidence in discovery, maintaining that the dispute is purely commercial and unrelated to their personal split.
Jolie and Pitt share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox. While the divorce itself has been settled, the continuing legal fight over Miraval suggests tensions remain. The case has reignited public interest in one of Hollywood’s most high-profile separations, with many observers noting how the property that once symbolised their love has now become the centrepiece of their feud.
