Sneako unbanned from YouTube three years after suspension for spreading misinformation

Controversial content creator Nico “Sneako” has been unbanned from YouTube, three years after the platform terminated his channel for violating misinformation policies. The New York-based streamer, who amassed over 1.27 million subscribers, was originally banned in 2022 for sharing content that reportedly spread misinformation about elections and COVID-19.

In a March 2024 livestream, Sneako explained that his permanent suspension stemmed from what he described as “election misinformation and COVID misinformation.” The incident reignited debates about online speech moderation and creator accountability.

On October 9, 2025, YouTube confirmed the reinstatement of Sneako’s channel as part of a pilot program aimed at giving previously terminated creators an opportunity to “rejoin the platform.” The initiative marks a significant policy shift by the Google-owned company, reflecting a growing trend among tech platforms to reassess permanent bans based on context and creator conduct.

Sneako celebrated his return with an emotional reaction during a live broadcast, exclaiming, “Look at the screen!” upon discovering his channel had been restored. He also expressed gratitude to fellow streamer Adin Ross, crediting him for continued support throughout his suspension. “He always stuck up for me… that means a lot,” Sneako said, adding that he could relate to Ross’s own experience of being banned from Twitch.

YouTube has not specified what conditions or review criteria were used in Sneako’s reinstatement, though the company emphasized its ongoing commitment to balancing creator freedom with responsible content standards.

Sneako’s unbanning follows a broader conversation within the streaming community about rehabilitation and accountability among banned influencers — as platforms navigate the fine line between enforcing policy and allowing redemption.
