Talk to tune: Spotify meets ChatGPT
Integration allows users to create playlists and find songs through natural prompts

Spotify has launched a new integration with ChatGPT, allowing users to search for music, albums, artists, and podcasts using natural language commands.
The collaboration enables users to connect their Spotify accounts to ChatGPT and instantly receive tailored music suggestions or create playlists within the chat interface. The feature supports both Free and Premium accounts, though Premium users get more personalised curation.
Once linked, users can ask ChatGPT to "play relaxing jazz," "make a road trip playlist," or "find emerging local artists," with direct playback options available in the Spotify app, according to a report.
The rollout covers 145 countries and is accessible on web, Android, and iOS for ChatGPT Free, Plus, and Pro users. Spotify emphasised that users retain full control and can opt out of the integration at any time.
Sten Garmark, Spotify's Global Head of Consumer Experience, said the move brings discovery into everyday conversation. "By bringing Spotify into ChatGPT, we're creating a powerful new way for fans to connect with artists and creators conversationally, whenever inspiration strikes," he noted.
Spotify confirmed it will not share audio or video content with OpenAI for training purposes. The update follows the company's previous chatbot partnership with Google's Gemini and comes amid its ongoing expansion of AI-powered personalisation tools, including support for lossless audio and direct messaging features.
The integration marks a major step in blending conversational AI with streaming to create a more interactive listening experience.
