Messner visits Alpine Club HQ in Pakistan

Legendary climber praised Pakistan’s vision for promoting mountaineering and adventure tourism

ISLAMABAD:

The Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) had the honor of hosting legendary Italian mountaineer Reinhold Messner, widely regarded as one of the greatest climbers in history, along with his wife Diane Schumacher, at the club’s headquarters in Islamabad.

Mr. Irfan Arshad Khan, President of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guest and conveyed the greetings of Pakistan’s mountaineering and adventure community.

During the visit, President Irfan Arshad Khan briefed Mr. Messner on the ACP’s vision, ongoing projects, and future initiatives designed to promote mountaineering, sport climbing, and sustainable adventure tourism across Pakistan’s mountainous regions.

Expressing his appreciation, Reinhold Messner praised the club’s renewed direction and congratulated Mr. Irfan Arshad Khan on his appointment as President of ACP.

“After a long time, I am witnessing significant change in the ACP and its upcoming plans,” Messner remarked.

Also present at the occasion were Mr. Karrar Haidri, Vice President of ACP, and Mr. Liver Khan, Executive Member of the club.

The visit marked a proud and symbolic moment for Pakistan’s mountaineering community, reflecting growing international recognition and collaboration in the country’s adventure sports and climbing initiatives.
