ISLAMABAD:

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Friday denounced Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Aimal Wali Khan's remarks and said the senator seemed to have been toeing "someone else's agenda".

Speaking to reporters at the Parliament House, the minister turned his fire on Senator Aimal Wali Khan, accusing him of making "irresponsible statements for publicity".

"Spitting at the sky is his habit. Such remarks are intolerable. I wanted to respond in the Senate, but the session could not continue."

Chaudhry alleged that the ANP chief was making negative remarks for no reason, "not knowing whom you want to please". "Pakistan's successful diplomacy in the past 80 years has no precedent. Yet, you dismiss it casually."

Chaudhry mocked the ANP leader's political stature, saying, "You are a leader only because your elders ran the party. Your party has shrunk from province to district to village level. During your government, people called the chief minister the 'Easy Load CM.' Now the same 'Easy Load people' talk politics."

"You love Afghanistan more than Pakistan. With your political role, you cannot even become a councillor," he further alleged.

The minister insisted Pakistan's diplomatic gains had come through the partnership of the Prime Minister and the "Field Marshal," noting: "Where once our prime minister's calls went unanswered, now red carpets are rolled out."
