
Alarming financial figures of the National Highway Authority (NHA) were also reported in the National Assembly, showing the body had suffered losses of Rs13.65 trillion over the last five years.
The breakdown of annual deficits included Rs2.54 trillion in 2021, Rs1.68 trillion in 2022, Rs4.13 trillion in 2023, Rs3.18 trillion in 2024 and Rs3.10 trillion in 2025. During this period, the NHA's total income amounted to just Rs159 billion.
In March, it was submitted in the NA that the aggregate losses and loans of the NHA had crossed Rs1.82tr and Rs3.1tr, respectively.
