The Islamabad Capital Territory administration has sealed six buildings, including a marquee along the Expressway, after dengue larvae were discovered on the premises.
The action was carried out on Wednesday during an inspection drive led by the Assistant Commissioner of Nilore to ensure compliance with dengue prevention protocols, according to an ICT administration spokesperson.
Officials said the sealed buildings had been identified as major contributors to the spread of dengue due to stagnant water and non-compliance with safety guidelines.
Inspections revealed that management at the sites had failed to implement the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the district health authorities to prevent mosquito breeding.
The assistant commissioner described the crackdown as part of a broader preventive campaign across the capital to combat the seasonal rise in dengue cases.
He emphasised that negligence in maintaining hygienic conditions in both commercial and residential properties poses serious health risk to the public, making strict enforcement essential.
Inspection teams stressed that effective dengue control requires joint efforts from both authorities and the public. Property owners have been instructed to regularly inspect and clean rooftops, basements, lawns, and under-construction areas to ensure there is no stagnant water.
Warning notices were also issued to several nearby properties found partially in breach of SOPs. Authorities cautioned that repeat violators could face heavy fines besides sealing orders if they continued to disregard preventive measures.
