KALA SHAH KAKU:

In an alleged police encounter with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Narang Mandi area, five suspected robbers were killed purportedly by shot fired by their accomplices.

According to police sources, a CTD team was on its way to track down criminals near Chak Bhale when the suspects hiding at the spot opened fire on it. In an ensuing crossfire, five of the suspects were killed by bullets fired by their accomplices, while the remaining managed to escape.

The bodies were taken into custody and shifted to a hospital, while the police set up checkpoints to track down the fleeing killers.

The police sources said the slain men were identified as members of the Sheroz Gang, named Sheroz, Usman, Mahrooz, Shoaib, and Asif.

They added that three days earlier, the gang had blocked the Muridke-Narowal road near Lambare village, where they had looted Rs1.3 million in cash from a car.

Uponfzcing resistance, the gang members had shot and killed a woman in front of her husband.

The police said the deceased were wanted in several cases of robbery, murder, and abduction registered in various police stations.
