ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad's district administration has finalised arrangements for the upcoming anti-polio campaign, targeting 461,125 children under the age of five across all 80 union councils of the capital from October 13 to 19.

The decision was taken at a recently-held meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner (DC), attended by senior officers of the district administration and health department. Officials reviewed preparations, set targets, and examined past performance as well as the overall polio situation in the country.

The campaign will involve door-to-door visits, mobile vaccination units for hard-to-reach areas, and special counters at schools, health centres, and public places. Thousands of health workers, supervisors, and volunteers will take part in the drive, with close monitoring to ensure that no child is left unvaccinated.

Reviewing past campaigns, officials noted significant progress but highlighted persistent challenges, including population movement, family refusals, and logistical hurdles. The DC directed all departments to close these gaps and appealed to parents to cooperate fully with vaccination teams, stressing that even a single missed child could put others at risk.
