An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Quetta denied the police further physical remand of Baloch Yakjeti Committee chief Dr Mahrang Baloch and other BYC members on Friday, sending the political prisoners on judicial remand instead.
The case was heard by ATC Judge Muhammad Ali Mubeen in Quetta. The BYC leaders were arrested on March 22, on allegations of "attacking" the Quetta Civil Hospital and "inciting people to violence".
For the first time in six months, BYC leaders, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch, were handed judicial remand instead of being sent back into repeated cycles of police custody.
