The city traffic police and Pakistan Post have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deliver faceless e-challans directly to citizens' homes in a step toward digital policing and administrative transparency.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Central Police Office on Tuesday and was attended by senior officials, including IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon, AIG Javed Alam Odho, DIG Traffic Karachi Pir Muhammad Shah, DIG Driving Licence Branch Younis Chandio, and Postmaster General Sindh Manzoor Ahmed, among others.
Speaking at the event, IG Memon said the initiative is part of broader technology-based reforms being undertaken by the Sindh Police to enhance public service delivery, eliminate corruption, and improve institutional efficiency.
"The faceless e-challan system is already functional in our driving licence branches. Now, violators of traffic laws will receive challans directly at their homes through Pakistan Post," he said. "The traffic police is the department with the most public interaction, but also one of the most criticized. Unless we integrate modern technology, these issues will persist."
He further stated that fines are being structured to ensure that traffic violators feel the financial impact, which would discourage repeat offenses.
Under the MoU, Pakistan Post will be responsible for delivering e-challans to the addresses of traffic violators. The initiative aims to replace the current manual and often opaque system with a streamlined, faceless process.
DIG Traffic Karachi Pir Muhammad Shah said: "We have been working on the faceless e-ticketing system for some time and have even introduced amendments to the Motor Vehicle Ordinance. With approval from the Sindh government, this MoU now allows Pakistan Post to deliver e-challans directly to citizens," he stated.
