Ravi Road police have arrested the alleged ringleader of a 'gutka' racket who was masquerading as a journalist to avoid arrest, officials said on Tuesday.
The suspect, Zubair, allegedly used fake press cards to operate his illegal business and harass citizens. According to the police, the suspect sold gutka himself and using his relatives to peddle the illegal chewing tobacco. Ravi Road Station House Officer (SHO) Shabbir Awan said police had received complaints from residents about the suspect's activities.
The suspect allegedly used video editing to manipulate footage during police raids and use it for blackmail. He also reportedly harassed and extorted money from citizens.
The police seized gutka and several fake press cards from Shah's possession.
