Actor Hania Aamir is currently in Bangladesh, where she has been winning hearts with captivating photos and videos shared on social media, but a recent choice at an event has sparked a debate among fans online.
During her visit, Aamir has offered a glimpse into her vibrant experiences, posting images of herself enjoying local cuisine, reading books, and adorning her hair with fresh flowers.
In one picture, she was seen wearing the Bangladeshi cricket team's jersey, a gesture of support that further endeared her to local fans. Her posts garnered outpouring of love and engaging comments, praising her unique and refreshing style.
However, the tone of her visit shifted after a star-studded event over the weekend. Aamir, whose admiration for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is no secret, was put in the spotlight when organisers played clips of Shah Rukh Khan and Bangladeshi superstar Shakib Khan and asked her to choose between them.
While many in the crowd chanted for SRK, Hania instead chose Shakib Khan, a decision captured in a video that is now going viral on Instagram and has ignited online chatter.
Social media was quick to react. Some users trolled her, with comments like, "SRK se koi response ni mila na pose kr ke" and "Bollywood me ab permanent ban jo hai" — a reference to ban on Pakistani actors in India.
Others defended her choice, suggesting it was a gesture to please the local audience. "She just wanted to make Bangladeshis happy, she's a sweet person," one user wrote in comment.
Another netizen pointed out that the viral clip may have been edited to stir controversy. "She pretty clearly said she will choose Shakib Khan bcs Bangladeshis will prefer him more as he is their own country's actor but the media page pretty cleverly cut the part to create nonsense controversy," the user commented.
On the work front, Hania Aamir was last seen in the Indian Punjabi film Sardaarji 3 alongside Diljit Dosanjh. The film faced a ban in India and did not see a release there.
