The discovery of a body in American singer D4vd’s impounded Tesla on September 8, 2025 has triggered widespread speculation and the emergence of a viral internet theory known as the “2 Celestes?” theory.
On September 17, Los Angeles police confirmed the remains were those of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, who disappeared in 2024 at the age of 13. Her family identified her, also telling authorities she had a boyfriend named David.
Days later, an X user named JRP posted a video asking, “Why are there 2 Celestes?” The clip introduced a theory that two women named Celeste were linked to the singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke.
The first was Rivas, the victim, and the second was a 23-year-old woman named Celeste Herrera, who regularly interacted with the artist online. JRP noted their similar appearance, calling it an “uncanny resemblance.”
The user also highlighted reported links between Burke and Rivas, citing a TMZ story that revealed footage of the pair on a livestream in January 2024. Both also had identical “shhh…” tattoos on their index fingers.
JRP speculated that after losing contact with Rivas, Burke may have become fixated on Herrera, who he suggested might represent a “replacement.” The video raised concerns for Herrera’s safety, with the creator questioning whether “the older Celeste is truly safe.”
Police have not named any suspects in Rivas’ death. LAPD confirmed they are awaiting a ruling from the coroner on the cause of death. The medical examiner described Rivas at the time of discovery, noting she had been deceased for an extended period.
The case remains open as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the discovery in the singer’s vehicle.
