PESHAWAR:

In a decisive operation in the Lala Cheena area of Khyber district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) killed three terrorists allegedly belonging to outlawed Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP).

According to a spokesperson, a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the CTD carried out the operation on the basis of intelligence reports.

He said after an exchange of fire, the CTD neutralized three terrorists but others managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

He said the dead terrorists were identified as Muhammad Naeem alias Abdul Nasir and Muhammad Karim, residents of Karak, who allegedly masterminded the Chamkani suicide blast.

The third terrorist, Noor Nabi, belonged to Nangarhar province in Afghanistan. However, a local ISKP commander, Fazal Noor, and some of his associates managed to flee.

During the operation, security forces recovered three SMGs, twelve magazines, 135 rounds, and three bandoliers from the terrorists. The CTD claimed that the terrorists were planning a major attack that was thwarted by timely action.

A search operation was ongoing with heavy deployment in the area, and the cordon had been further tightened to arrest the fugitives.

A blast targeted a police vehicle within the remits of Chamkani police station in Peshawar on May 11. Two policemen were martyred and one was injured in the attack. The ISKP is a splinter group of ultra-orthodox terrorist outfit the Islamic State.
