FAISALABAD:

Three labourers died after inhaling toxic gas while making an illegal sewer connection near Chak 225 RB, Makhwanwala area.

Police registered a case under Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code against five persons, including the owner of College and his clerk, and launched a search for their arrest.

According to details, the college had engaged laborers late at night to lay a pipeline for a fish farm through an unauthorized sewer connection. The workers — 40-year-old Zulfiqar Ali, 24-year-old Naeem Abbas, and 17-year-old Ansar Abbas — were lowered into the manhole using a ladder.

Soon after entering, they lost consciousness due to toxic gas exposure and died inside.

Rescue 1122 teams retrieved the bodies and handed them over to Sadar Police, who shifted them to the mortuary for postmortem. Senior police officers, including ASP Gulberg, DSP Sadar Faisalabad, SHO Sadar, and WASA officials, reached the site to supervise proceedings.

Police registered the FIR on the complaint of Zulfiqar's brother, Nadeem Abbas, who alleged that Pasban College owner Shah Nawaz and clerk Liaqat Ali had hired the workers for Rs100,000, with Rs15,000 paid in advance.
