FIR registered over lawyers' protest, scuffle at IHC

Human rights activist and lawyer Imaan Mazari and lawyer Naeem Panjotha were among 150-200 lawyers booked on Friday under 7ATA and other sections, following a scuffle during a protest outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The case was registered at Secretariat Police Station based on a complaint filed by IHC Bar President Syed Wajid Gilani.

According to the FIR, 150-200 lawyers have been named in the case. The FIR maintained that the accused raised slogans against the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court and the Pakistan Army. “I was grabbed and repeatedly hit on the shoulders and beaten severely,” Gilani was quoted as saying in the FIR.

Wajid Gilani asserted that all individuals, involved in the incident, were in lawyers’ uniforms. Furthermore, the FIR stated that Intizar Panjotha and Naeem Panjotha were armed with knives and daggers during the incident.
