Several Twitch streamers and influencers have reacted publicly to the ongoing investigation involving musician and former streamer David “D4vd,” after police confirmed that the body of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas was discovered in a vehicle registered to him.
Pokimane, who had previously appeared on stream with D4vd and Jasonthween, addressed the situation on social media after receiving messages from followers.
She wrote: “I’m as shocked and disturbed as everyone else finding this out. Hoping justice will be served soon. My thoughts & prayers are with the victim’s family.”
Jasonthween, who had interacted with D4vd in the past, has since unfollowed him on Instagram. During an earlier stream with Ludwig, Jason had defended the musician, saying: “He didn’t do it. He literally performed the next day. If he was a suspect, the police would have been after him.”
Ludwig also commented on the case during a livestream. Referring to reports about D4vd’s alleged connection with Rivas, he said: “This news [of her death] broke on her birthday, and he clearly knew her very intimately… even if he did not have any hand in murdering her, that’s psychopathic.” Ludwig later stated he would wait for police findings before speculating further.
Fortnite’s official social media accounts have unfollowed D4vd, despite his recent collaboration with Epic Games, which included an in-game emote and the first official Fortnite anthem released on September 3.
Streamer xQc drew attention to what he described as a coincidence: D4vd’s breakout track Romantic Homicide was linked to Rivas’ birthday. He later clarified that the music video had been premiered on that date, meaning it was scheduled in advance, which he said raised further questions.
The investigation into Rivas’ death and D4vd’s potential involvement remains ongoing, with authorities yet to provide additional updates.
