The investigation into the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas has taken a new turn as old online chats involving singer D4vd have resurfaced.
Authorities confirmed earlier this week that Rivas’ body was found in a Tesla linked to the artist, but new material from 2022 is drawing fresh attention.
Screenshots circulating online show Discord messages where D4vd appeared to mention Rivas as early as 2022, when she was just 11 years old. In one exchange, he reportedly asked if “celeste” was present in a server, to which a user by that name replied.
By 2024, around the time Rivas went missing, community members were openly discussing claims that the two were in a relationship.
Rivas’ mother has previously alleged that her daughter was connected to someone named “David” and noted similarities between tattoos worn by both her daughter and the singer.
Reports in Reuters and BBC News state that investigators are reviewing these claims, though no charges have been filed.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has listed Rivas’ cause of death as “deferred” while further tests are conducted. Police confirmed that the case remains active.
Public reaction has been swift. Some social media users have described the resurfaced messages as concerning and have urged others to share evidence with authorities.
One X user notes how, "Last year, someone mentioned her name in his Discord server and it became their last message, implying that they got banned by d4vd or someone."
The discord chats have intensified scrutiny and sparked debate about the risks of online interactions between minors and adults. Especially in light of reports that D4vd's discord community was aware of the relationship between them, during which Celeste Rivas was a minor.
On reddit, a user also reported that Celeste Rivas's friends were bribed into silence by D4vd when she was in 8th grade.
D4vd has cancelled upcoming performances, and his legal team has stated that he is cooperating fully with investigators.
