RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) announced the results of the HSSC-II annual exams, with female students securing all top three positions.

The first two positions went to students from the newly created district of Talagang.

According to Chairman Adnan Khan and Controller Examinations Tanveer Asghar, Areej Shafqat Hayat of Punjab College for Women, Talagang, secured the first position with 1,148 out of 1,200 marks, while her classmate Ayesha Mushtaq took second place with 1,139 marks.

The third position went to Eman Fatima of Royal College of Sciences for Girls, Chakwal, with 1,138 marks.

Awards, shields, and medals will be distributed to position holders at a ceremony on Thursday (Sept 18) at Fatima Jinnah Women's University.

No male student could make it to the top three overall positions this year. However, toppers in various groups were announced separately.

The position holders strongly criticised the current examination system, calling it outdated and irrelevant to modern scientific progress.

They demanded reforms and modernisation, saying the system "only produces clerks."

First position holder Areej Shafqat credited her success to her parents' dedication, saying rote learning could help students pass but never achieve top positions.
