Will 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' end with secret episodes? Fans spot finale Easter eggs

Fans think another two bonus episodes or one supersized closing chapter will drop due to unresolved storylines.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is set to air its season three finale on September 17, but speculation among viewers suggests the story may not conclude with episode eleven as planned. Fans believe Jenny Han has left hidden clues pointing to possible secret episodes.

Theories began when viewers noticed several Easter eggs reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s method of dropping coded hints for her fans.

In one scene, Belly is unpacking in her Paris apartment with boxes marked “A12” in red, a symbol Swifties linked to the singer’s album reveal in 2024. Others suggested the finale could even debut a new Swift track from her forthcoming album The Life of a Showgirl, out October 3.

Attention then turned to the idea of fourteen episodes instead of eleven. Conrad’s airport gate number, 14, and a fare difference of $437 (4+3+7 equalling 14) were cited as evidence. Belly’s flashback sweatshirt also bore the number, while Susannah’s death date in the storyline fell on April 14. Some argued that if the season ran to fourteen episodes, the final would air on October 8, with the number 8 symbolising infinity — a recurring motif for Belly and Conrad’s relationship.

Further intrigue was sparked when the official The Summer I Turned Pretty Instagram removed its episode release schedule. The finale is also listed simply as “finale” rather than “episode 11,” echoing how the season began with a double release.

Fans speculate this could mean another two episodes will drop, or perhaps one supersized closing chapter.

With storylines involving Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah unresolved, many viewers feel a single episode will not provide enough closure. Amazon has not confirmed any additional content, leaving audiences to wait until September 17 at 3 am ET for answers.
