OpenAI exec reveals ChatGPT helped produce KPop Demon Hunters' "Soda Pop"

Sherwin Wu, who heads product and engineering for OpenAI’s developer platform, is under criticism after a post revealed that The Black Label's Vince, producer for the track “Soda Pop” from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, used ChatGPT to create portions of the song.

After the OpenAI Korea launch event in Seoul, Wu reportedly said on X, “We launched the OpenAI Korea office yesterday! Fav moment from the launch celebration was hearing singer/songwriter Vince share that ChatGPT helped him write “Soda Pop” from KPop Demon Hunters! It apparently gave him ideas to make it sound “more bubbly”", in a post that has since been deleted.r/Fauxmoi - Producer Vince, who the song "Soda Pop" from Kpop Demon Hunters, admitted to using Chatgpt to make the song more bubbly.

The launch also featured prominent figures including BTS leader RM, Korean DJ Peggy Gou, and OpenAI executives Jason Kwon, Brad Lightcap and Oliver Jay. It marked OpenAI’s latest expansion into Korea—its fastest-growing market in Asia.

Meanwhile, KPop Demon Hunters and its soundtrack has achieved major chart success. The film has become Netflix’s most-watched original animated title with over 236 million views, and the soundtrack is the first in Hot 100 history to place four songs in the top ten simultaneously, including “Golden”, “Your Idol”, “Soda Pop” and “How It’s Done”.
