Apple TV+ has given the green light to a fourth season of 'Foundation', a sweeping sci-fi drama inspired by Isaac Asimov's classic stories. The renewal lands before the finale of Season 3 on Friday.
"There is no series quite like Foundation, and we feel lucky and honoured to be carrying the torch forward as co-showrunners into Season 4," said Ian Goldberg and David Kob, who oversee the show alongside executive producing duties.
"We look forward to continuing the epic, emotional storytelling that defined the first three seasons." Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+, credited the show's growing popularity across international audiences.
"With each new season, the excitement around this trailblazing sci-fi epic just keeps building," he said. "We're excited to keep exploring this universe together in season four."
The ensemble cast includes Jared Harris, Lee Pace and Lou Llobell, with Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann and Rowena King. Season 3 added Cherry Jones, Brandon P Bell, Synnove Karlsen, Cody Fern, Tomas Lemarquis, Alexander Siddig, Troy Kotsur and Pilou Asbek.
Production on the new season is set to begin in early 2026. Paramount Television Studios produces the series, with Goldberg, Kob, Bill Bost, Pace, Michael Satrazemis, Robyn Asimov and David S Goyer all serving as executive producers.
The renewal keeps one of Apple TV+'s flagship titles on the slate as the platform continues investing in ambitious, big-budget genre storytelling. The Hollywood Reporter noted that Foundation has grown into a global hit for the streamer, praised for its scope, ambition and visual scale.
