A fresh wave of terrorism has gripped Bannu, leaving residents in fear after two major incidents occurred within the jurisdiction of Cantt Police Station in a single night.
In the first incident, unidentified armed men kidnapped five employees of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) from Pir Dil Khel area. The abducted staffers were identified as Naqeebur Rehman, Farhad, Abdul Wahab, Javedullah, and their driver Adnan.
The kidnappers abandoned the government vehicle and took the men to an undisclosed location. Police later recovered the vehicle and launched a search operation, but the hostages had not been recovered until the filing of this report.
Similarly, terrorists stormed a large dairy farm, making away with more than 100 valuable cows and abducting two farm employees. The farm, which supplies milk daily to Bannu Cantonment, was attacked under the cover of darkness. Video footage reportedly shows the armed men driving the cattle away. Authorities fear that the attack will disrupt local milk supply.
The back-to-back incidents have caused widespread panic among residents. Families of the abducted workers and local citizens have urged the government and security agencies to ensure the safe recovery of the hostages and to strengthen security measures in the city.
