Louis Tomlinson teases third solo album with upbeat update after faith in the future success
Louis Tomlinson has shared fresh updates on his highly anticipated third solo album, telling fans he feels confident about the finished record.
Just sat listening to the new record and I’ve got a really really good feeling this time round! Can’t wait for you all to hear it!!
The former One Direction singer took to X (formerly Twitter) on September 10, writing: “Just sat listening to the new record and I’ve got a really really good feeling this time round! Can’t wait for you all to hear it!!”
Tomlinson, who released his debut Walls in 2020 and follow-up Faith in the Future in 2022, has been gradually teasing details of the new project throughout the year. In April, he described the songs as “sunny” with a touch of “chaos” during a fan Q&A online. By July, while performing at Poland’s Łódź Summer Festival, he confirmed the album had been completed.
The 33-year-old previously explained he wanted to take his time with the record rather than rushing its release. Speaking at the 2023 Rolling Stone UK Awards, Tomlinson admitted he tends to want to share new music quickly after writing, but was determined to allow this album more space to develop.
Alongside discussing new material, Tomlinson has also reflected on his career beyond One Direction. Speaking to Brazil’s G1, he admitted it took him years to stop comparing himself to his bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik. He said the constant comparisons once became “a little bit toxic,” but now feels he has matured and gained the confidence to view his journey differently.
While Harry Styles has enjoyed the most visible solo success, Tomlinson emphasized he has always been proud of his fellow band members. For him, the shift has been about finding self-assurance in his own music and embracing a healthier perspective on competition.
