PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has urged the federal government to provide immediate relief to flood-affected districts through the BISP, lamenting that despite his request to the Prime Minister, delays were persisting.
Speaking to the media in Sukkur on Tuesday, Bilawal said that floods had caused devastation across the country and stressed that people must cooperate with the administration as they were being shifted to safer locations.
He added that Sindh had completed preparations to deal with the situation and that collective efforts were needed to confront the crisis. He pointed out that Pakistan's agriculture sector and farmers were already under strain before the floods, and the new wave of destruction had worsened their plight.
"The agricultural damage caused by the floods must be compensated. An agricultural emergency should be declared across the country and farmers must be supported because they are bearing the heaviest burden," he emphasised.
