An American TikToker is going viral after she and a friend mistakenly boarded a plane to Tunis, Tunisia, believing they were travelling to Nice, France.

Brittney Dzialo documented the confusion in a series of TikTok videos that quickly spread across social media.

The pair boarded a Tunisair flight from Rome, laughing off initial mentions of Tunis until a fellow passenger confirmed the plane’s destination. “Is this going to Nice?” one of the travellers asked. “Tunis, yeah,” came the reply, highlighting how the words had been confused.

When the flight attendant confirmed their tickets indeed said “Tunis,” the women nervously googled Tunisia’s location and asked another passenger where it was. “North Africa,” she responded, prompting further panic as they pulled up maps on their phones.

In a follow-up TikTok, Dzialo explained, “the airline employee misheard us and booked us a flight to TUNISIA, AFRICA instead of Nice, France.”

Though they considered leaving, the crew convinced them to remain seated, assuring them they could change planes later. In reality, they had no booking to Nice at all. Eventually, the travellers did make it to their intended Riviera getaway, updating followers with, “yall we made it.”

Reactions online ranged from amusement to criticism. Some commenters joked that Tunis was at least geographically close to Nice, while others scolded them for not checking their boarding passes or gate signs.
