BLACKPINK’s Rosé achieved a major milestone at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, held on September 7 at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.
Her collaboration with Bruno Mars, APT., won Song of the Year, marking the first time a K-pop track has received this honor at the VMAs.
APT., the lead single from Rosé’s 2024 solo debut album Rosie, became a global sensation, topping charts and drawing attention for its catchy melody and playful lyrics inspired by a traditional Korean drinking game.
The song’s success also earned Rosé and Bruno Mars the Global Sensation award at the 2024 MAMA Awards.
During her acceptance speech, Rosé reflected on her personal journey, dedicating the award to her 16-year-old self. She thanked Bruno Mars for his collaboration and support, and expressed gratitude to her BLACKPINK bandmates, mentors, and fans.
Her remarks highlighted perseverance, self-belief, and the importance of embracing one’s unique path.
The 2025 VMAs, hosted by LL Cool J, celebrated a wide range of artists. Lady Gaga received Artist of the Year and Best Collaboration for Die With a Smile with Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande won Video of the Year for Brighter Days Ahead, and Sabrina Carpenter earned Album of the Year for Short n’ Sweet.
Rosé’s win underscores not only her individual success but also the growing presence of K-pop on international music stages, demonstrating the genre’s expanding influence and recognition worldwide.
