The United Arab Emirates have announced their 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, with star batter Muhammad Waseem named captain.

UAE are placed in Group A alongside India, Pakistan, and Oman, and will open their campaign against India in Dubai on September 10.

The squad is largely the same as the one currently featuring in the tri-series against Afghanistan and Pakistan, with only two new additions — pacer Matiullah Khan and left-arm spinner Simranjeet Singh.

Waseem, who has been a key figure for UAE in recent years, will once again be central to their batting strength. He previously impressed with his performances at the 2022 T20 World Cup qualifier, where his innings against Namibia played a major role in UAE’s historic win.

This will be UAE’s second appearance in the Asia Cup, having last competed in the 2016 edition in Bangladesh.

The 2025 tournament will feature eight teams divided into two groups of four. The top two from each group will progress to the Super Four stage, with the leading sides then contesting the Final.

The competition will also serve as vital preparation for Asia’s top teams ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka.

UAE squad: Muhammad Waseem (captain), Alishan Sharafu, Aryansh Sharma, Asif Khan, Dhruv Parashar, Ethan D'Souza, Haider Ali, Harshit Kaushik, Junaid Siddique, Matiullah Khan, Muhammad Farooq, Muhammad Jawadullah, Muhammad Zohaib, Rahul Chopra, Rohid Khan, Simranjeet Singh, Saghir Khan.
