The Hunting Wives became one of the most streamed series in the US this summer, and while Season 2 has not yet been officially confirmed, creator Rebecca Cutter has shared her vision for the show’s continuation.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Cutter said she would like the next instalment to begin after a “little time jump” rather than picking up directly from the finale. “I like there to be a little bit of a new status quo, but you don’t want to miss too much,” she explained.

The Prime Video drama, based on May Cobb’s novel, follows Sophie O’Neil, played by Brittany Snow, and Margo Banks, portrayed by Malin Åkerman. Season 1 ended with revelations of betrayal, tragedy, and unresolved tensions between the two leads. Cutter confirmed that the characters will remain central to Season 2.

“Of course you’re getting more Sophie and Margo. Just, what does that mean? And where does it end up? I’m not going to tell you! But they will have many scenes together,” she said.

Cutter also highlighted the popularity of Wanda Salazar, the deputy introduced in Season 1, and noted that she hopes to expand the character’s role.

Additional storylines could include political intrigue around Jed’s campaign for governor and even a possible reality show for Callie and John.

Although The Hunting Wives is not a Netflix original, the streamer secured US licensing rights, and the series quickly climbed to the platform’s Top 10 chart. According to Luminate, it recorded more than two billion minutes streamed during its second week.

Sources have suggested that Netflix is already in discussions with the production team about a second season. Cutter added that she sees scope for at least three seasons, describing the story world as rich with possibilities.
