Lady Gaga has officially made her long-awaited debut in Wednesday season 2, taking on the role of Rosaline Rotwood, a mysterious Nevermore Academy professor. The pop icon and actress, known for her theatrical performances, appears in Part 2 of the Netflix series after being teased during the Tudum 2025 fan event, where the show’s official account hinted at her character’s arrival.
According to Netflix’s character description, Rotwood is a legendary Nevermore teacher whose reputation is cloaked in mystery and whose psychic powers were the stuff of legend. Gaga’s first appearance comes in Episode 6 of Part 2, when Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega, follows her grandmother Hester’s advice and visits Rotwood’s grave to strengthen her psychic gift.
The headstone, marked by dark energy and a Raven’s inscription, transports Wednesday into a chamber resembling Rotwood’s former cottage. There, Gaga’s character instructs her not to break the “Raven’s Gaze,” a ritual involving a black candle flame. When Enid interrupts to warn Wednesday of curfew checks, the ritual is broken, unleashing Rotwood’s warning that there would be “a price to pay.” That consequence arrives as a body swap between Wednesday and Enid, forcing both to confront each other’s lives and identities.
Beyond her acting role, Gaga also contributed original music to the season. She recorded The Dead Dance, a gothic track released alongside Part 2, with the music video directed by Tim Burton. Outlets including Variety and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the song’s release, highlighting Gaga’s creative imprint on the series.
Her appearance in Wednesday expands her growing film and television career, blending her musical influence with her ability to embody dramatic, gothic characters on screen.
