Zoë Kravitz has revealed that she has unintentionally caused several friends to consume hallucinogens after they helped themselves to food from her fridge.
The Caught Stealing actress discussed the incidents in a Vanity Fair video alongside her co-star Austin Butler, who asked if she had ever accidentally taken hallucinogens.
Kravitz responded: “I’ve never accidentally taken hallucinogens, but I have accidentally dosed several people.”
She clarified that the events were not deliberate, but rather the result of friends unknowingly eating her unlabeled food. “It’s people who went into my fridge when I wasn’t home,” she explained.
“It’s happened like four times. It happened once when I was shooting Batman. My friend came to visit me from Paris and went into my fridge when I wasn’t there. And ate the chocolate mushrooms I had sitting there, and called me, and I had to leave work and take care of her. And then a month later, it happened again with another friend.”
As a precaution, Kravitz now labels her food to prevent future mishaps. “Now I label everything,” she said, adding: “But you also don’t go into people’s fridges and just eat unmarked chocolate.” Butler agreed with her approach.
Kravitz and Butler are currently promoting Darren Aronofsky’s crime thriller Caught Stealing, released this week. Butler plays Hank Thompson, a former baseball player turned bartender who becomes entangled in a gang war after agreeing to care for a neighbour’s cat, with Kravitz portraying his love interest.
Earlier this month, Kravitz shared another anecdote on Late Night With Seth Meyers, recalling how she and her mother, Lisa Bonet, accidentally let Bonet’s pet snake loose in Taylor Swift’s Los Angeles home while staying there during the wildfires.
Kravitz assured that she paid for the repairs after damage was caused while retrieving the snake.
