KARACHI:

The traffic police chief has announced a complete ban on the movement of heavy vehicles across the city on 11th and 12th Rabiul Awwal .

According to the Karachi Traffic Police spokesperson, the decision aims at ensuring smooth traffic flow during Eid Milad un Nabi (SAW) processions and prevent congestion on key routes.

All dumper owners and heavy transporters have been informed in advance about the restrictions to avoid inconvenience to the public, the spokesperson said, adding, that strict legal action will be taken against violators.

The move comes amid growing concerns over fatal accidents caused by heavy vehicles in the metropolis. Reckless driving, driving without licence and unfit vehicles on city roads have resulted in the loss of precious lives.

In a recent incident in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, two siblings were crushed to death by a dumper, while their father sustained serious injuries. The gruesome accident sparked public outrage, leading to an enraged mob setting seven dumpers on fire.
