GILGIT-BALTISTAN:

Two personnel of the Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) Scouts were martyred and another injured when terrorists ambushed their checkpoint along the Karakoram Highway (KKH) in Diamer district early Friday.

According to police, the attack took place at 12:15 am near Chilas, when unknown gunmen opened fire from an elevated hilltop position at a G-B Scouts checkpoint. Nine personnel were present at the post at the time.

Three were hit by gunfire, following which Naib Subedar Khush Dad and Havaldar Ashraf succumbed to their injuries. Lance Naik Sajid Ali, who sustained an abdominal wound, was under treatment.
